The Westside Trail

Westside trail 2

What can we experience on the West Side Trail?

This linear trail developed by the Tualatin Hills Parks & recreation District (THPRD) lays the foundation for trail system connecting communities, neighborhoods, schools and parks along a north-south line located between SW Murray and SW 170th and extending from SW Scholls Ferry Road in the south and Highway 26 in the north. Eventually this linear trail will connect to powerlines trails that cross the Tualatin range linking up with the Forest Park network of trails.

Westside trail 1

This linear trail encompasses varied terrain, but mostly it is hilly, but not mountainous. The trail conditions vary as the trail has not been fully developed along its entire length. The Scholls Ferry to Hart Road portion described in this segment is along its southern end and is accessed from SW Scholls Ferry Road. The Tualatin Hills Nature Park trail (described elsewhere) also includes a northern segment of this linear trail.

Trail conditions: Paved, and moderate to easy grade. Rating: Easy

Elevation gain/loss: 150 ft.

Distance: 2.47 miles one way from Scholls Ferry Rd. to SW Hart Rd.

Trail directions: Follow the paved and occasionally unpaved trail north from Scholls Ferry Road to SW Nora Rd. The trail beyond SW Nora is unimproved, so we’ll detour west (left) to Sexton Mountain Rd and turn right to follow that road until it dead-ends into the Powerline corridor. From that point northwards there is a developed trail that will take you to SW Hart (where the bus connection is) and beyond if you wish.

TriMet access: To start at SW Scholls Ferry Rd take the 62 Murray Blvd. bus (westbound) to stop # 11521 at the corner of SW Murray and SW Scholls Ferry Road. Walk west (three blocks of shopping center) to the power line corridor. At northern terminus of trail take the 88 Hart/198th eastbound bus from stop # 9681 located at SW Hart & SW 161st (the westbound bus stop is # 9667 located at SW Hart & SW 160th).
