Tryon Creek State Park

Updated: September 2009.

Tryon 1

Tryon Creek State Natural Area. It’s a natural fit for most urban hikers!

This State Park is one of the best parks in the city; less well know than Forest Park, but equally beautiful and secluded. This 670 acre park has 8 miles of trails that provide a variety of options as you cruise around the Tryon Creek watershed. The park is strict about keeping dogs on a leash and equestrian use is also allowed on the 3.5 miles of horse trails. Getting the horse on to TriMet may be difficult...

Trail conditions: well maintained gravel paths. Rating: Easy

Elevation gain/loss: 125 ft from Nature Center down to Tryon Creek. 236 ft. from highest point in park to lowest.

Distance: Variable - many trails to choose from - see map

Trail directions: The park can be penetrated from a number of portals, so it is not possible to describe a single trail...and besides the joy of Tryon Creek is the ability to explore the many different paths crisscrossing this narrow valley.
