Buxton to “Stub” Stewart State Park

Travel time to trailhead: 39 minutes

Driving directions to the trailhead: From downtown Portland drive West on US 26 for approximately 28.5 mile. Follow the signs to Buxton and turn right on NW Fisher Road. This will lead you into Buxton - about .7 miles north from US 26. Continue through the hamlet and follow NW Bacona road that exits from the northern edge of the community and heads up into the hills - for another .7 miles. On your right you will find signs indicating the trail head for the Banks - Vernonia Linear Trail. Park your car here and proceed in a westerly direction (crossing the road you drove in on) along the paved trail.

Elevation change: 607 feet over 4.35 miles - a gentle and consistent grade.

Conditions: Paved walking and biking trail - in superb condition.
