Thayers.org undergoes a dramatic change…

Currier-Ives print of canoers

Over the last year I have been transferring all the hiking material from my family website and publishing it on www.foresthiker.com. But in the meantime, I left much of that material on the original site until the new site was nearly complete. Now I’ve finally taken the second step to cull the hiking materials from the family site. Over the next few months I’ll be adding new materials, especially photographs to this site.

I was intrigued by tonight’s Oregon Field Guide segment about your Portland to Coast routes and wanted to learn more about them on the http://www.foresthiker.com site. However, I could not find any links there to pages or content about segments of the route. Is it possible that there are links and other formatting that don’t show up on an iPad?

      Dear K Jones:

The website http://www.foresthiker.com is entirely about the two routes from Portland to the coast. The home page explains the origin of the project and has a map that shows the layout of both routes. There’s quite a bit of documentation under each of the tabs listing various “loops” I conceived as a piece-meal approach to walking the entire route from Portland to either Seaside, or to Tillamook.

There’s also an active blog on various topics related to this area, such as the Lumberjack Legacies series.

      Hope you will enjoy this.

Thank you, Jim. I think the issue is my iPad (which is not yet running the new iOS due to the maps app problems). My view of the home page does not have any tabs; the text kind of runs together, and there are some images, and a plain gray column on the right. So I didn’t find the links to the route info. I will check it out from a PC. Looking forward to exploring some of the loops!
